PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a brake by decreasing a load applied to the brake when backward traveling is performed by an engine while slipping the brake that directly connects reaction factors of a planetary gear to a casing. SOLUTION: In a 'friction traveling mode' in which a vehicle is driven backward with an output from a carrier 'C' by operating the engine connected to a sun gear 'S' and by slip-engaging a ring gear 'R' with a first brake B1 that is connected to the casing, power generation of a starter connected to the crankshaft of the engine is controlled by power generating torque Ts to generate electric energy. The backward traveling is assisted by supplying the electric energy to a motor generator connected to the carrier 'C' to rotate it in the reverse direction by assisting torque Tmd. |
