PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time space information providing/detecting method and device, by which application of intended alteration processings, with respect to time and position information given to video data are made difficult. SOLUTION: The time space information giving device 50 is provided with a video frame synchronization extracting section 53, that extracts a synchronizing signal of a video frame; a timer 54 that outputs current clock information; a time stamp processing section 55 that outputs time information as binary data on the basis of current time information; a GPS input section 56 that receives a GPS signal from a GPS satellite and outputs geographical position information as longitude latitude information; a position information processing section 57, that retrieves address information from the geographical position information to use it for position information of the binary data; an imbedded information buffer section 59 that temporarily stores the time information and the position information synchronously with the video frame synchronizing signal; and an electronic watermark imbedding processing section 60, that imbeds the information (time/space information) stored in the imbedded information buffer section 59 as an electronic watermark, to the video frame.
