New DD1-a and DD1-b genes of maize and their regulators, useful for specific control of transgene expression in the transfer zone of grain during development

A novel nucleic acid (I) that is at least 80% identical with sequences (1) and (2), not reproduced, their fragments or the complements of (i). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a nucleic acid (Ia) containing at least 12 consecutive nucleotides (nt) from (I) or its complements; (b) a recombinant cloning and/or expression vector containing (I) or (Ia); (c) a host cell, or plant, transformed with (I), (Ia) or the vector of (b); (d) a method for preparing transgenic plants by regenerating plant cells of (c) or by transformation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens cells of (c); (e) transgenic plants produced by method (d) or their seeds; (f) polypeptides (II) encoded by (I); (g) antibodies (Ab) directed against (II); (h) detection of (II) by reaction with Ab; and (i) a kit for detecting (II) comprising Ab and optionally reagents for detecting an antigen/antibody complex.
