PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a desired printed matter by using any method selected from among various communication methods. SOLUTION: Two kinds of communication cards of a PHS communication I/F card 28a and a PDC communication I/F card 28b can be installed in this printer 2. A protocol corresponding to the installable communication card is stored in a RAM 22, and only the protocol of the actually using communication card is validated.
