PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring a traveling time of a shuttle and detecting abnormality of feed of weft in weaving, a method therefor and a method for controlling a weaving machine. SOLUTION: In a weaving machine in which a weft is fed by a shuttle holding the weft in the transverse direction a machine to warps hung in the direction of the machine to weave an industrial woven fabric, this apparatus detects a weft insertion abnormality by measuring a time required for the shuttle pulling the weft to start one end of the weaving machine and to reach the other end. This method for detecting weft abnormality in weaving uses the apparatus. This method for controlling a weaving machine is provided.
