Cleaning bar compositions that are efficient and have excellent foam properties and low ocular and skin irritation are disclosed. The composition s include dibenzylidene sorbitol as a gelling agent, a glycol solvent, and a combinati on of anionic, amphoteric, and nonionic surfactants to provide detergency. The anions may din hydroxypropyl cellulose as a solidifying synergist.
