METHOD FOR DESIGNING OPTICAL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of designing a combined optical system including both of refractive optical elements and diffractive optical elements. SOLUTION: Any plane in the optical path of rays propagating the optical system is determined as a conversion plane. The propagation of rays passing the refractive optical elements or diffractive optical elements is calculated by converting the rays expressed by directional vectors into rays expressed by complex amplitudes on the conversion plane or by converting the rays expressed by complex amplitudes into rays expressed by directional vectors.
