1,4-PHENYLENEDIAMINE DERIVATIVE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a compound having acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyltransferase(ACAT) inhibitory activity in high selectivity and at high yield, and to provide an intermediate for the above compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing the new compound comprises reacting a compound of the general formula 2 (R1 and R2 are each independently an alkyl; and R3 is a lower alkyl) with fuming nitric acid to nitrate the compound followed by treating the resultant compound with an acid and then reducing the thus treated compound to obtain the objective compound of the general formula 5 (R1 and R2 each mean the same as mentioned above).
