PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cerebral ventricle cleaning preparation for cleaning the cerebral ventricle while protecting brain tissue. SOLUTION: This cerebral ventricle cleaning preparation comprises a compound represented by formula (1) [when R1 is a hydroxy group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or R1 and R2 are combined to form an oxo group; R3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or a monohydric to trihydric alcohol residue; when R1 is a hydroxy group and R2 and R3 are each a hydrogen atom, the compound may be a dimer to a decamer] as an active ingredient.
