PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an optical path from being cut off in an optical coupling device. SOLUTION: This optical coupling device is equipped with a semiconductor substrate 10 which is formed with a V-groove 12 having a metallic film 12a for soldering, a lens 3 which is soldered to the metallic film 12a inside the V-groove 12, and others. The lens 30 is flattened in a part 30b of a spherical lens by cutting for example, with a metallic film 30a for soldering formed on the side opposite to the flat face 30b. In soldering the lens 30 to the metallic film 12a inside the V-groove 12, this lens 30 is handled, with the flat face 30b held by a lens holding tool 200 of a sucking type.
