PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Ni based alloy which has excellent corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking resistance, and simultaneously has good hot workability, a slab thereof, and their production method. SOLUTION: The Ni based alloy slab for hot rolling has (a) the componential composition (by weight) of <=0.045% C, 3 to 25% Fe, 14 to 26% Cr, <=4% Nb, 0.005 to 0.04% N, <=1.0% Si, <=0.2% Al, <=0.030% P, <=1.0% Mn, <=50 ppm S and <=60 ppm O, and the balance Ni and inevitable impurities, and (b) the characteristics that the austenite grain size number (G.S.No.) is >=1.
