PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector with a connection-detecting function and a cable equipped with this connector, which facilitates installation of this function in the already existing optical apparatus and equipment, and also to provide an equipment controlling mechanism using this cable. SOLUTION: The optical connector 10 is equipped with slide pins 16a, 16b that are held so as to make them slidable in the axial direction of the connector 10, and with a proximity switch 21 that is switchable in conduction linked with the operation of the slide pins. Thus, the function is installed in which the proximity switch 21 is on an energized state only when the connector 10 is normally connected to a receptacle 11.
