PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieving method and its device, capable of retrieving the required information with high accuracy and quickness. SOLUTION: A CPU 101 controls ratio for utilizing contents words annexed to multimedia information and the featured value of the multimedia information itself as a retrieving condition, so as to change the ratio according to a category made to correspond to a retrieval request word and a concept expressed by multimedia information to be retrieved.
