PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light emission at a hole transport layer in an organic EL element where a luminous layer in an organic layer, pinched between a electrode and a negative electrode emits light by recombination energy between an electron in a luminous layer and a positive hole injected from the hole trans port layer. SOLUTION: On a glass substrate 10, the positive electrode 20, a hole injection layer 30, the hole transport layer 40, an electron block layer 50, the luminous layer 60, an electron transport layer 70, and the negative electrode 80 have been formed successively, and by the electron block layer 50 installed between the luminous layer 60 and the hole transport layer 40, injection of electrons from the luminous layer 60 to the hole transport layer 40 is prevented.
