LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the device in which display failure due to bleeding of a sealing material caused during heating and setting the sealing material is prevented. SOLUTION: When a color filter substrate 2 and an active matrix substrate 3 are laminated, the sealing material 5 formed on the active matrix substrate 3 is stretched while pressed to be in contact with a sealing material holding wall 4 formed on the color filter substrate 2. The gap d2 between the sealing material holding wall 4 and the active matrix substrate 3 is made smaller than the gap d1 between the display regions of the both substrates so that the sealing material 5 is guided to the outside of the display region by the capillary effect to prevent display failure due to bleeding of the sealing material 5.
