PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized radiograph image information reader which treats a cassette storing a rigid type simulative phosphor sheet. SOLUTION: This radiograph information reader receives the cassette 1 which stores a rigid type simulative phosphor sheet 13 in which radiograph image information is accumulated and recorded and is provided with an opening for taking in and out the sheet 13 on one end part, and reads the radiograph image information from the simulative phosphor sheet 13 which is taken out of the cassette 1. Therein, the simulative phosphor sheet 13 is carried out at a constant speed from the opening for the received cassette 1 by means of sheet conveying means 31, 32. At this time, the simulative phosphor sheet 13 which is taken out of the cassette 1 is subjected to main scanning approximately in right angle direction to the direction of carrying-out of the sheet on the position near the opening by means of excitation light 10 from an excitation light 10 from a main scanning means 11 with excitation light and the stimulating light 14 which is emitted from the part irradiated with the excitation light of the simulative phosphor sheet 13 is detected by a photoelectric detecting mean 17, 27.
