PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint device for a base isolation building or the like providing sufficient heat insulation and fire resistance and preventing formation of a gap at a joint portion by allowing the building, if greatly shaken in an earthquake or the like, to automatically restore to its original condition. SOLUTION: The joint device for a base isolation building or the like comprises either or both of a lower parting wall provided on a bearing wall installed below the lower end of the exterior wall of the base isolation building or the like via a space portion, in such a way that the lower parting wall protrudes into the space portion to serve as an optimum joint portion, and an upper parting wall provided at the lower end of the exterior wall of the building to protrude into the space portion to serve as an optimum joint portion; a fire-resisting band formed by enclosing a fire resisting material such as fire resisting cotton or rock wool in a fire resisting sheet mounted on the upper or lower parting wall via mounting fittings to cover the joint portion under a sealed condition; and a heat-sensitive inflating material provided to enable the fire resisting band to be inflated at or above a predetermined temperature.
