PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a softening agent composition enabling easy recovery of the faded color of clothes at home. SOLUTION: The softening agent composition contains (a) a specific amount of a quaternary ammonium salt or a tertiary amine having two or more 12-36C alkyl groups or alkenyl groups and one or more 1-5C alkyl groups or hydroxyalkyl groups or its salt, (b) a specific amount of a water-insoluble polymer having a refractive index of 1.20-1.45 at 25 deg.C and either one or both of (c) a 12-36C saturated or unsaturated fatty acid and (d) a quaternary ammonium salt or a tertiary amine having a single 8-36C alkyl group or alkenyl group and two or more 1-5C alkyl groups or hydroxyalkyl groups or its salt.
