PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll paper holding device capable of dispensing with a wide space around roll paper and preventing a stain caused by rubbing against a printing surface, and capable of stably feeding the roll paper while reducing a paper trouble with simple handling by restricting excess unwinding of the roll paper. SOLUTION: This roll paper holding device 11 is equipped with a holder body 13 for holding a core O of the roll paper R, and an unwinding preventing cover 15 for preventing unwinding of the roll paper R over a torelance level by slidably contacting with an outer peripheral surface of the roll paper R attached. The roll paper holding device may be equipped with two pairs of the holder bodies 13 and the unwinding preventing covers 15 symmetrical with the right and the left respectively so that the respective holder bodies hold respective ends of the core of the roll paper and the respective unwinding preventing covers cover respective ends of the outer peripheral surface of the roll paper.
