PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter to extensively improve mounting workability by mounting a socket part of a socket wrench along a housing of an electric motor and fastening a head part of a bolt as the housing of the electric motor is kept out of the way by miniaturizing and lightening the electric motor even though high output and thermal resistance are required for a large diesel engine. SOLUTION: Outside diametrical dimensions of the housing 2 of the electric motor 3 are set to be smaller than diametrical dimensions of an inscribing circle of the socket part 16a in a state of applying the socket part 16a of the socket wrench 16 on the head part 15a of the mounting bolt 15 in case of using the socket wrench 16 simple as a tool, and the socket wrench 16 is devised to be connected and disconnected to and from the head part 15a of the mounting bolt 15 along the housing 2. Consequently, it is possible to speedily and easily mount the engine starter 1 on the engine side by using the socket wrench 16.
