PURPOSE: A device for regenerating record, and a method for controlling I/O for the same are provided to predicts the execution time of each I/O request from an external system and thereby assures an accurate processing of the I/O request, and to assure an accurate continuous recording and reproduction of image data or other data of high priority and which can efficiently process I/O requests of low priority. CONSTITUTION: A recording-reproducing apparatus has input device for inputting(S1) an input/output execution time prediction request from the external equipment, and judging device for predicting(S2) the execution time of the input/output request in response to the input/output execution time prediction request and the recording-reproducing apparatus predicts(S3) the execution time of the input/output request and notified(S6) to the external equipment in response to the input/output execution time prediction request input from the external equipment.
