CO-CULTURE OF HEPATOCYTES AND STELLATE CELLS

A co-culture comprises hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells formed on a surface which is substantially free of molecules which will provide signals to the cells in the co-culture, such as extracellular matrix molecules. The surface is a film of biodegradable poly (lactic acid). A suitable surface for such a co-culture, and a method of producing such a co-culture, are also described.
