The wheel has a wheel disc with radial disc part and axial cylinder part, which is part of the rim. The cylinder part (3) is formed integrally with the disc part (2), and extends from the radial transitional disc area (6) to either side of the disc. A rim part (11,21) with tapered bead (13,23) is welded to each cylinder side (3A,B). The wheel disc (1) with disc part is a cast steel or cast iron component, esp. of spheroidal graphite iron, and the rim parts are pref. of formed steel sheet. Alternatively, the wheel disc is cast aluminum part and the rim is fabricated from formed aluminum sheets.
