The switchgear apparatus has a closed housing incorporating a number of encapsulated electrical function modules (2) and provided with a pressure venting space (3). Each of the function modules has a number of function spaces (5,6,7), which are separated from one another and coupled to the pressure venting space directly, or via a pressure venting channel positioned at the side. Each pressure venting channel is open on one side, with the pressure venting channels of 2 adjacent function modules cooperating to provide a closed pressure venting channel.
