A fluid-handling system comprising a fluid-driving device that comprises at least one rotating part, the rotational frequency of which is changed during operation of the device, a channel (17) containing a flowing fluid in which sound travels, and a sound attenuation system with at least one reactive sound attenuator (10) comprising a chamber with an end wall (11), and means for arranging the position of the end wall in dependence on flow properties, such as pressure and velocity, of the fluid such that the position of the end wall comprises a position of equilibrium between a force exerted by the fluid and a force exerted exerted by said means.
