A positive electrode, negative electrode and electrolyte form in combination a battery, and at least one of the positive and negative electrodes has an electrode layer containing cyclic conjugated carbonyl compound expressed by general formula (1) where Ar is an organic group equivalent to substituted/non-substituted aromatic compound having carbon number 5 to 14 from which two hydrogen atoms are eliminated; the battery is high in energy density, large in capacity, light and stable.
