Mineral molded body used in the production of fire protection boards and heat insulating plates contains expanded glass granules as light filler, and an alkali silicate as binder

Mineral molded body contains expanded glass granules as light filler having a bulk density of 15-35 kg/m3>, and an alkali silicate as binder. The molded body has a bulk density of 50-150 kg/m3>. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a mineral molded body comprising mixing the glass granules with an alkali silicate, pressing the mixed material, and drying the molded body obtained. Preferred Features: The molded body additionally contains an alkyl silicone resin as hydrophobing agent.
