The engine has a suction system for combustion air intake, flanged to an intake flange (12) of a cylinder head. Exhaust gas re-circulation channels (20) in the cylinder heads (10) connect outlet channels (18) in the heads to openings (22) in the intake flange. An intermediate flange (24) between suction system and cylinder head has first channels (26) connected via the flange openings to the exhaust re-circulation channels. Second channels are connected to intake channels (16). The channels open into a collection chamber (30) in the intermediate flange, which contains valves (32,34) to control the fluid connection between the channels. |
