To control a yarn texturizing machine, with a number of stations each texturizing a yarn and winders to wind the processed yarns into bobbins, the winders are activated and deactivated according to the occupation and/or coupling of the texturizing workstations. To control a texturizing machine, which processes a number of yarns where compound yarns are formed from a number brought together from separate workstations, only one winder is brought into use to wind the assembled yarn and the other winders are left idle. The winders are brought into action alternately within a given operating time span, so that each winder operates for the same length of time within the operating time span. For the production of compound yarns, the relevant process and/or quality parameters are assembled for each winder as it is activated, and they are altered as a winder is changed. With the production of a number of compound yarns at a number of workstations, the adjacent workstations are selected to produce a yarn from one of them combined, and one of the winders is activated to wind the produced yarn into a bobbin. An Independent claim is included for a texturizing machine with a control unit (27.1-27.3) for each winder or group of winders (20.1-20.3), linked to a central control (26), to activate and deactivate the winders. Preferred Features: A number of yarns can be combined into a compound yarn in front of the winders, and a single winder is selected and activated to wind it into a bobbin. The control has a program to start and stop the winders in a given alternating sequence, during the operating session. The control program sets the bobbin winding times, to determine the winder change-over points. A number of monitors register the process and/or quality parameters at the workstations, linked to the control, to ensure that the wound bobbins meet the required quality levels. A process control unit is at each workstation or group of workstations, linked to the control.
