PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a short message in a mobile terminal is provided to enable a user to fetch a receiver's telephone number from the memory of his mobile terminal and input the fetched number directly without the necessity of memorizing it after confirming it through the memory. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal user searches the memory of the mobile terminal and extracts a specific telephone number(ST11). If the user pushes a specific button(T12), the mobile terminal enters a short message transmission function state and inputs and processes the extracted telephone number as the telephone number of a receiver who will receive the user's short message(ST13). The user inputs a short message(ST14) and transmits the inputted short message to the receiver's telephone number(ST15).
