PURPOSE: An erase head assembly of a magnetic recording player is provided to combine a guide post for restricting a running height of a tape, supplied to an erase head, with a body, to exactly set a relative position between the erase head and the guide post, thereby exactly restricting the running height of the tape. CONSTITUTION: An erase head(54) is contacted with a signal recording surface of a tape(T) by being exposed on one side of a body(52). The erase head erases a signal previously-recorded before recording the signal in the tape in a recording mode. A hook(56) is projected to both ends of the body, to be adhered to a lower side of a main chassis(40). An installation guide(57) is projected in the body, to have a predetermined angle in the direction of the hook. The installation guide is inserted into a guide boss(42) projected on the main chassis. A guide post(60) is combined with the body to restrict height of the tape supplied to the erase head via a tension post(3). The guide post is not contacted with the signal recording surface of the tape. An upper end of the guide post guides a lower end of the tape only.
