The control/regulation system has an arrangement (19,20,5) for increasing the temperature of the absorbent (18) in the engine's exhaust system (12,15,12a,16-18) to raise the temperature of the engine induction air and delaying the ignition control time if the absorbent has absorbed the hydrocarbons and the engine (1) is idling. Independent claims are also included for the following: a control/regulation method for an internal combustion engine.
