<p>It is intended to provide a novel method of immobilizing a yeast by using a cellulose-binding domain, namely, a method which comprises presenting a cellulose-binding domain on the cell surface layer by a genetic engineering technique and immobilizing cells onto a cellulosic carrier by taking advantage of the affinity of cellulose for the cellulose-binding domain. Use of this method makes it possible to provide a transformed yeast which presents the cellulose-binding domain of cellulase on its cell surface layer.</p> |
