The lock for a building door is fitted in a bore in the frame and is turned towards the front. A slidable crank handle (5) on the bolt fits into a shaped keeper against a metal bar which forms the bolt. The bolt can have a plastics body with a metal insert (2). The handle can operate the bolt via a rack and pinion drive.
