A plunger pump applied to a fuel injection pump, desirably, to a distributor type fuel injection pump (1), wherein a main port (31) for sucking and discharging fuel and a sub port (32) having a diameter smaller than that of the main port (31) and used exclusively for overflow are formed in a plunger barrel (17), an upper main lead (36) functioning to start the force-feeding of fuel at a high speed is formed, as a lead for communication with the main port (31), at the top end part of a plunger (7), a lower main lead (35) functioning to end the force-feeding of fuel is formed on the underside of the upper main lead (36), an upper sub lead (37) functioning to start the force-feeding of fuel at a low speed is formed, as a lead for communication with the sub port (32), at the top end part of the plunger (7), and lead angles generally identical to each other are formed for the upper main lead (36) and the upper sub lead (37).
