railway transport; electric locomotives. SUBSTANCE: proposed battery-fed locomotive has frame with bogies and suspension, body installed on frame and provided with driver's and motor compartments. Motor compartment accommodates motor-compressor, motor-fan for body ventilation, motor-fans for forced cooling of traction electric motors, three-phase ac generator and control mechanisms. Motor compartment accommodates also high-voltage chamber with nuclear high-voltage batteries and ion electric motor mechanically connected with three-phase ac generator supply the consumers. Ion electric motors are used as traction motors, which, like drive ion motor, are connected to nuclear high-voltage batteries.
