MOUNTING FRICTION ELEMENTS TO DISC BRAKES

Disk brake friction element mounting system provides spaced mounting elements or guides (30, 32) for the friction elements (18, 20, 22), the spacing (64) of the mounting elements permitting at least one friction element to be located in its working position by insertion edgewise through the space between the mounting elements without removing the brake discs or disc. The friction element is supported and guided by laterally-extenting shoulders (66) having downwardly facing receptors (68) for the mounting elements. In this way friction element insertion and removal for servicing purposes is greatly simplified.
