Some brake plates of the brake plate stack (11) are connected to the output shaft (4) and the others to the housing (1) secured against rotation but displaceable axially relative to same. Interacting sections of the plates are conical and the abutment face (15) has a conical surface in a ring part of the housing which holds the stack. The output shaft can be mounted in a bearing device having a rolling bearing (8) and the ring part of the housing holding the brake plate stack axially secures the bearing device radially outwards.
