METHOD FOR MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL OF QUALITY-DETERMINING PARAMETERS FOR THE RAW SMELT IN GLASS FURNACES

The invention relates to a method for the measurement and simple, rigidly structured control of the quality-determining parameters of the glass bath. According to the invention, the mixture covering and settling, the thermally active heat sinks and heat sources, in particular, on the glass bath surface and the flames are optically measured, compared as set values, or, in serial control, as guide parameters and adjusted by means of fuel supply, fuel distribution, additional heating power, or addition of bubbling. In an image section of a furnace chamber camera, which is evaluated in real proportions, a differentiation is made, pixel by pixel, between a mixture and a glass, preferably by colour weighting. A regulator circuit regulates the degree of coverage of the mixture at the top of the regulation hierarchy. The mixture proportion, registered in the transverse furnace direction by image line and the linearised axial progress thereof into the melting zone is determined as a value for mixture settling, essential for the process, as determined by the recirculation flow and used as a set value input for a batch drift regulation circuit. In transverse flame furnaces, on the flame axial glass hotspots having a positional difference from the axial mid-position of the furnace, as fixed by set value with the highest flow, measured in alternate pauses, a flame guide regulator circuit sends a flame length guide parameter to the following flame length regulator circuit, which regulates the flame centre in the current flame period. Feed forward control in the guide regulation circuit avoids overheating of the edges of the withdrawing ports. Intensive cross-current mixing and marked reaction zone separation of the fusing and refining zones are typical quality assuring features of the method.
