<p>An automatic fluid control valve assembly comprising a rotary valve (3) which is changed from fully open to fully closed by rotation of an actuating shaft (23) through approximately a right angle, a spring (27) for rotating the shaft (23) from a position where the valve (3) is open to a position where the holds the valve (3) is closed or <u>vice versa</u>, a trigger mechanism (7) which holds the valve (3) open or closed against the action of the spring (27), and a solenoid (5) for actuating the trigger mechanism (7) when the valve (3) is to be opened or closed.</p>
