A switchable source of energy with an energy intensity scans a switching on/off condition for an actuating device so that a current to be connected lies in the range of a nominal current intensity for the actuating device. Relying on the switching on/off condition determines an electrical quantity as an actual value, which an evaluatory unit compares with a predefined theoretical value. If there is any change in the switching condition, an output signal is given off. An Independent claim is also included for a circuit structure for carrying out the method of the present invention.
