HYDRAZONE DERIVATIVES AND USE THEREOF IN MEDICINES

Medicines containing compounds of the general formula (I): (I) [wherein R<1> is hydrogen or lower alkyl; and A is morpholino or a group of the general formula (II): (II) (wherein B is hydroxylated lower alkyl, carbamoyl, or glycyl whose amino group may be substituted)]. The compounds have potent inhibitory activity against cysteine proteases, particularly calpain, and proper water solubility for the use in medicines.
