PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling cooling for vehicle are provided to compensate engine output by automatically and temporarily stopping operation of an air conditioner on sudden acceleration or departure after stop. CONSTITUTION: A device comprises a car speed detective part(10); an air conditioner driving switch(20); a temperature sensor(35); a controller(40); and an air conditioner driving control part(50). The car speed detective part comprises a sensor detecting speed of a vehicle to output data corresponding with the car speed. The air conditioner driving switch selects operation of an air conditioner installed in the vehicle. The temperature sensor detects indoor temperature of the vehicle. The controller analyzes data output by the car speed detective part or an accelerator pedal operation detective part(30) to intercept air conditioner driving control signal if sudden acceleration is desired or the vehicle is to start after stop. The air conditioner driving control part controls driving of the air conditioner according to driving control signal output by the controller.
