Mobile telephone and associated method for non-RF mode operation

A mobile telephone having communication and non-communication functionality includes a selectable non-RF operation mode to allow access and use of the non-communication functions in RF restricted areas. An indicating signal is provided to verify and validate that the mobile telephone is in the non-RF operation mode. A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) stores a set of instructions for selectively controlling the operation of the mobile telephone in an RF operating mode and a non-RF operating mode.
