PURPOSE: A combustion chamber of a diesel engine is provided to reduce the frictional loss of the mixed gas flowing into an auxiliary combustion chamber, to decrease the amount of smoke due to auto-cruising or sudden acceleration by reducing the mixing property of fuel and air, and to efficiently cope with the international environment regulations. CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary combustion chamber(10) is a cylindrical body having a hemi-spherical upper portion(16). A fuel colliding part(18) in which injected fuel is collided is formed at a lower portion of the hemisphere. An injection port(12) including an injection nozzle(20) is protruded onto the central upper portion of the hemisphere. A preheating plug(30) is installed at an upper portion of the injection port to preheat the combustion chamber. A connecting pipe(14) through which air flows is installed at a lower end of the auxiliary combustion chamber. Since the sectional areas of the inlet and outlet of the connecting pipe are different from each other, a vortex rate is increased when air flows into the auxiliary combustion chamber from a main combustion chamber. Therefore, fuel is mixed with air sufficiently and combustion is optimized.
