PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium having excellent image preservability and particularly excellent gas resistance and to provide a method for efficiently manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording medium comprises an alkanolamine compound. The method for manufacturing the ink jet recording medium comprises the steps of coating a recording layer of the ink jet recording medium with a coating liquid containing an alkanolamine, and drying the liquid.
