PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene encoding an alkaline cellulase that has an optimal reaction pH at a high alkaline region and is not inhibited by cellobiose, and to provide a method for mass-producing the single enzyme using the gene. SOLUTION: An alkaline cellulase gene encoding a specific amino acid sequence derived from a bacterium belonging to the genus Bacillus or an amino acid sequence modified by deleting, substituting or adding one amino acid or more from, in or to the amino acid sequence is provided. An alkaline cellulase gene that is derived from a bacterium belonging to the genus Bacillus and has a specific base sequence different from the above sequence or a base sequence modified by deleting, substituting or adding one base or more from, in or to the base sequence is provided. A recombinant vector containing the gene is provided. A transformant containing the recombinant vector is provided. A method for producing an alkaline cellulase by culturing the transformant is provided. |
