PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receipt printer in which a final piece can be issued or collected while keeping a carriable length even if the sheet is ended in the way of print operation and print operation can be continued by making a switch to a standby sheet without stopping the operation. SOLUTION: When the end of sheet is detected (step ST4), residual length is determined (step ST7) and based on the determination results, the remaining sheet is printed and issued as one sheet (step ST12), cut into a plurality of pieces of carriable length and collected (steps ST8-9'), or printed and issued while altering the print content (including compression/decompression), as required. The final piece can be issued or collected while keeping the carriable length and print operation can be continued by making a switch to a standby sheet without stopping the operation.
