Preventing unauthorized use.-To protect a motor-car against theft the bonnet is fitted inside with a lock d accessible through a keyhole band adapted when locked to shut off the petrol supply to lock the bonnet, to open the ignition circuit, and to set an alarm for automatic operation (a) when the vehicle is vibrated, for example, by anyone jumping on the footboard, or (b) when the doors are opened When the lock d is locked, its bolt moving upwards shoots the bonnet locking bolt h and by means of a pivoted lever e depresses a rod i, thereby shutting-off the petrol supply by turning a cock r, and effecting a furthering locking of the bonnet by a bolt u. By actuating the switches m, n the downward movement of the rod i also serves to include the door contacts in the alarm circuit and to interrupt the ignition circuit G for the engine. The alarm horn or bell L is sounded when an armature w is oscillated .after being released from a catch lever x by the swing of a weight D on a spring C, this swing being caused by anyone shaking the vehicle after the downward movement of the rod i has released the weight D from a fork l<1>. If the, current from the starter battery St fails, an auxiliary battety M is automatically switched into circuit by the action of a spring P on the failure of a relay N. |
