PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a motor drive in which powering and regeneration of a permanent magnet type brushless motor can be performed through simple circuitry and the motor can be driven efficiently through switching between PAM control system and PWM control system. SOLUTION: The motor drive 1 comprises a brushless motor 2, a chopper 5, a smoothinq capacitor 6, an inverter 7, a control circuit 8, a motor current sensor 9, and a rotor position sensor 11 and a DC power supply 3 is connected on the input side thereof. A command voltage (vc) is generated based on a detection value from the motor current sensor 9 and compared with voltages -VR+VI, 0, and VI. Powering is performed in PAM control system if vc>VI, powering is performed in PWM control system if VI>vc>0, regeneration is performed in PAM control system if 0>vc>-VR+VI, and regeneration is performed in PWM control system if -VR+VI>vc. |
